SALT SHAKER - 2001 Azimut 70 Seajet
Based in Turin, Italy, Azimut is the largest yacht builder in Europe. The company began distributing boats in the U.S. in the early 1980s, but it wasn’t until the mid 1990s that Azimut models became a significant presence in the American market. With a series of motoryacht and flybridge designs up to 100 feet in length, the Azimut brand soon became identified with sleek styling and meticulous craftsmanship. Today, Azimut is a force in the U.S. luxury market with a range of innovative yachts ranging in size from 42' to 100'.
The Azimut models profiled below represent ten of the company’s popular models over the years. Taken together, these are the boats that made the Azimut brand what it is today with the American yachting community.
Azimut 70 Seajet
1996–2002
At a Glance: A state-of-the-art yacht when she was introduced in 1996 — the aft engine room is rare in a yacht this size. The Sea Jet’s spacious and flowing interior is a blend of soft curves, high gloss cherry joinery and facing C-shaped leather sofas. The galley—forward of the salon—features a dishwasher, marble counters, and entrance door to the starboard deck. In the salon’s aft corner is a curved stairway leading to the master suite with king berth, built-in vanities, and ensuite bath. The VIP stateroom has a queen berth, and both guest staterooms have side-by-side berths. Note the luggage storage off the guest accommodation hallway. Crew quarters are at the bow, accessed from the foredeck. The lower helm has a deck access door. The transom garage houses a PWC. MTU 1150hp V-drive diesels cruise at 24–25 knots. A popular model, about 40 were built. (Power & Motoryacht Guide)
